<p>April is Jazz Appreciation Month, sponsored by <a href="http://www.smithsonianjazz.org/jam/jam_start.asp">SmithsonianJazz</a>.</p>
<p>While every month is jazz appreciation month at UNT Jazz, in April we go all out. The month starts with the North Texas Jazz Festival in Addison and closes with the Denton Arts &amp; Jazz Festival. In between are Lab Band Madness and a whole lot of concerts by guest artists and student groups, plus student degree recitals.</p></div>

The combo consists entirely of UNT alums: Kris Berg, bass (and director of jazz studies at CCCC); Kent Ellingson, piano; Tom Burchill, guitar, Mike Burgess, trombone, and myself on tenor. The concert starts at 8:00 p.m. and will take place in the John Anthony Theatre on CCCC's Spring Creek Campus (in Plano, on Jupiter Rd. between Spring Creek Pkwy. and Parker Rd., just east of Central Expressway). <div class="field-content"><p>Over at the <a href="http://web2.unt.edu/jazz/forum">Green Room</a>, two messages are posted that ask for students' opinions about courses in music business and music technology.</p>

<p>The views of current and prospective students about courses in these two areas will help the College of Music decide whether to offer them or not.</p>
