Current student Kevin Hicks has won the audition for lead trombone in the Airmen of Note. The Note is the premier jazz performing ensemble of the U.S. Air Force and is stationed in Washington, D.C. This is the highest profile job of its type in the country and quite an honor for Kevin. The former lead trombonist with the group was Joe Jackson, himself a lead trombonist from the One O'Clock. There are a number of UNT alums in The Note including their arranger Alan Baylock. Kevin is in good company!

Recent Jazz Studies Graduate Luke Brimhall has just won the solo jazz trombone position in The Jazz Ambassadors. Part of The US Army Field Band, The Ambassadors are considered the premier jazz group of the US Army and one of the highest profile jazz positions in the world.
