Nick Finzer joins UNT Jazz Studies Faculty

We are pleased to announce that trombonist Nick Finzer has accepted our invitation to join the faculty of the UNT College of Music Division of Jazz Studies as an Assistant Professor of Jazz Trombone (tenure-track) this fall.

Mr. Finzer earned the B.A. in Jazz and Contemporary Media from the Eastman School of Music in 2009 and the M.M. in Jazz Trombone from The Juilliard School in 2012. He has toured with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Ryan Truesdell’s Gil Evans Project, the Anat Cohen Tentet, and the viral YouTube group Postmodern Jukebox. His most recent album as a leader is No Arrival (2018). He won ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Awards in 2013 and 2015, and won the Eastern Trombone Workshop National Jazz Trombone Competition in 2011.

Mr. Finzer is currently teaching at Hunter College and the Jazz at Lincoln Center High School Academy, and taught previously at The Florida State University. He maintains a private teaching studio and runs the record label and media company Outside In Music.
