What's new in this redesign?

Unlike the old site, the new site:

  • is searchable
  • has an events calendar
  • has a more consistent navigation scheme
  • provides a printer-friendly version of each page; note also that on pages that have child pages, like the courses page, choosing printer-friendly page will give you one page that contains all of the child pages
  • has faculty/staff blogs
  • has multiple RSS feeds (each blog individually, and all blogs in one feed); if you're unfamiliar with RSS, see the newsletter page
  • enables faculty/staff editing of content and events from any browser
  • has multiple RSS feeds (each blog individually, and all blogs in one feed)
  • is a dynamic, database-driven site; this means that the data is on the server, and can be edited from anywhere, instead of being a copy of what is on one hard drive in the office that can only be edited from there; this also means that you should link only to the main page, since the links of pages may change
  • uses open-source software called Drupal; more about it here
