I originally entitled All the Things You Are “All the Things”, a reference to the fact that he tried to use ALL the things in his cookbook on this piece. Currently a part of Randy Brecker’s touring big band book, this chart primarily features the trumpet, with blowing space for the tenor as well. With lots of metric modulations, cunning key changes, and a crazy reharmonization, this chart is not for the faint of heart! Originally performed by the UNT One O’Clock Lab Band.
Digital Sheet Music Pack for this arrangement comes with a FREE RHYTHM TRACK
Recorded in 1940 by the legendary early vocal jazz group The Ink Spots and in 1975 a UK hit single, this lovely, lilting tune is set here by Zach Yaholkovsky with a creative use of texture and harmony to provide surprises at many corners while also taking great care with the lyric setting in a light swinging feel.
Chord chart (with some notation) piano/guitar and bass, drums
Adapted and expanded from the Sara Gazarek Band (w Josh Nelson) version, this SSATB arrangement reharmonizes the classic jazz standard, sets it in 3, and features a strong female soloist.
A recorded version with Sara Gazarek and Josh Nelson can be found on the 2018 UNT Jazz Singers record, “A Thousand Nights”.
